I write for children and adults. Writing helps me to understand the world and engage deeply with things that matter. I studied writing in Victoria, BC and Brisbane, Australia, and continue to develop my craft. I’m thrilled to be chosen as an artist-in-residence with the Nelson Civic Theatre Society (2023 cohort). I’ve worked in book publishing for a long time and have written a novel, four books of non-fiction for children, two board books, and poetry. My current project is a novel for children, which is generously supported by a CKCA grant.
I emigrated from Zambia to Canada when I was four years old. I stay connected through volunteering for Malambo Grassroots, which fosters grassroots development in the Monze district of southern Zambia. Apart from writing and reading, My interests range from low-impact living, southern Africa, reading (of course!), and getting outdoors with my wonderful family.
